City to Host Southwest Rugby Championships

The Southwest Rugby Football Union’s 2024 championship tournament will unfold in Santa Fe April 20 and 21 at the city’s Municipal Recreation Complex. Eight teams from Arizona and New Mexico will compete in three divisions for the right to advance toward the U.S.A. national championships in June 2024. Hosts Santa Fe Santos face a tough first-round test against 2023 Division 3 national runners-up Tucson Magpies at 11:30 Saturday while Albuquerque’s Brujos will play Scottsdale, Arizona. The winners will compete for the SWRFU trophy at 11:00 on Sunday. Also on Saturday Tempe Rugby Club takes on Red Mountain RFC of Phoenix for the Division 2 title at 1:30 and the Atomic Sisters of Albuquerque will play the Las Vegas, Nevada Women’s RFC at 3:30.
